PCIR 1: Essentials of International Relations and Political Development (2nd Run)

Global health; human trafficking; climate change; international terrorism; cyber (in)security – the world in the 21st century is at a complex place. In many ways, our world is more interconnected than ever before and we need to be equipped to face a host of evolving challenges. This course provides a broad introduction to the main concepts and theories in the field of politics and international relations. You will learn major theories of international relations and apply them to understand international situations and issues in the modern world. You will also examine the global relations of states, power and organisations, to understand and develop solutions to global challenges and opportunities. *This is one of three short courses within the Professional Certificate in Global Politics and International Relations (PCIR).
