Reading/Writing Chinese (Competence)

The objective of this course is to cultivate the students’ writing skills through intensive critical reading and analysing of exemplar pieces in literary masterpieces, historical essays, philosophical treatise and other genres. Students will be required to submit written assignments on a regular basis in the form of creative writing, argumentative essay, text summarization, and so on. This is an essential course for all Chinese Language and Chinese Studies majors and is open to all students who are looking to ways to improve their reading and writing skills in Chinese.
