Climate, Coastal Engineering and Water Resources (Fundamentals of Coastal Engineering Programme) This course covers the basic principles of coastal engineering, coastal water processes, coastal hydrodynamics, free surface flow, engineering hydrology and analysis of coastal protection structures. It also covers fundamentals of climate science for engineers, as well as principles of coastal management, engineering economics, uncertainty in context of climate change adaptation and numerical modelling. The course objectives are to equip practicing engineers on planning and developing design concepts for coastal infrastructures in response to the challenges and uncertainties posed by climate change. The course content covers scientific fundamentals of the subject matter, but also place an emphasis on practical applications of the outlined engineering principles.
