EUGENE FONG XIN HUA

'This course introduces the basic principles ofhydrology and water resources, including flowthrough pressurised pipe systems and free surfaceflow. In particular the course covers fundamentalconcepts of hydrological cycle, such as: response ofcatchment system, river network and reservoir torainfall; frequency analysis of rainfall or flood, design of ponds, reservoirs, river flow andcatchment management, are covered as well. Othertopics include flow routing such as kinematic wave, diffusive wave and dynamic wave. Water Resources portion of the course coverspressurised pipe flow calculation principles, hydraulic design of pipelines, use of pumps andturbines, urban hydraulics and water distributionsystems. In addition to this, free surface openchannel flows are covered. In particular topics ofuniform flow, critical depth, gradually varied flow, calculation of surface profiles.'
