Placemaking involves both the physical transformation of the place and the contents that go into the place to create meaning and memories for visitors. Events are a large part of place contents, and sometimes the most influential and practical means of placemaking.
At the end of the course, participants will:
- Understand various perspectives applied to events and the impact of these perspectives on business and society
- Identify and recognise a wide variety of practical skills required in event management
- Appreciate event management from a project and facilities management point of view
- Learn the process of creating and designing events
- Apply marketing concepts to event planning
- Develop basic knowledge in event operations and event risk management
During the programme, participants will:
- understand and apply fundamentals of event management (by identifying and recognising a wide variety of practical skills required in events management as well as applying marketing concepts to event planning) in their respective industries through selected case studies
- explore with the various types of events and their features, deliverables and contributions to the event industry (from a project and facilities management view point) in the context of today's world economy in general
- study the events landscape in Singapore and competitive markets in the region and to discern potential issues of concern and identify opportunities for Singapore
- Where applicable, to predict/make sense of the new directions or trends that will shape the events space in the near and long term by applying the process of creating and designing events
