Professional Certificate in Electric Drives

This Professional Certificate gives participants an overview of the various types of electric drives (AC and DC drives) and how it can be applied under different manufacturing settings, through the following 2 short courses : 1) Electric Drives I - Fundamentals of Electric Drives Participants will be provided the knowledge on : (i) the basics components of a power semiconductor controlled closed-loop electric drive system; (ii) the difference between constant-speed and variable speed drives and the benefit of using variable-speed drives; (iii) how to select a suitable size electric motor for a given variable speed drive application in terms of its thermal capability. 2) Electric Drives II – DC and AC Drives Participants will have a better understanding on the working principle of the DC and AC drive system and how to control the torque, speed and position of the drive system.
