Social Work with Persons with Depressive Disorders (Sep 2023)

This module aims to inform participants with knowledge (aetiology, symptomology, evidenced-based treatment, treatment challenges, etc.) of depressive disorders, with a focus on the more common disorders such as Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) and Dysthymia. Special focus will be given to the relationship between depression, and presentations related to grief and bereavement; and suicidal behaviour. Social work intervention approaches to working with persons with depressive disorders will be discussed.
