Respond to Incidents and Accidents in Biomedical Facilities/Laboratories

This course (BRMC 303) is designed for learners to get an in-depth understanding in managing of biosafety and biosecurity laboratory incidents and accidents, including response to emergency situations. The course will facilitate learners to familiarize with planning and responding to laboratory incidents in practical ways with some hands-on practice in the class. This course aims to equip learners with the following insights: -Plan and develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) to deal with laboratory incidents and accidents. -Conduct on-site assessment of incidents and accidents to determine appropriate immediate actions. -Conduct post-incident investigation to establish probable causes of the event as well as appropriate recommendations. -Report incidents and accidents to the appropriate party or authority in accordance with internal standard operating procedures and applicable legislations. -Implement appropriate recommendations in accordance with internal standard operating procedures and applicable legislations. -Monitor and review the effectiveness of recommendations to eliminate repeated incidents and accidents.
