Completed an internship at NUS Information Technology (May to Oct 2022).
Worked on the NUS Metaverse project described below:
NUS IT is developing the first NUS metaverse, advancing towards the next major digital disruption in the university. This will be a paradigm shift from the traditional mode of ICT access and user experience. It will also be a first for the NUS community of students, faculty and staff, advancing towards the metaverse. The project development aims at transforming teaching and learning using a 3D virtual scientific laboratory for the Faculty of Science. My Virtual Lab is a ground-breaking and highly immersive virtual lab leveraging virtual reality in achieving lab safety compliance, designing and executing scientific research.
Over the course of the internship, the intern has:
- Become an active part of a specialized team that develops highly-interactive teaching and learning applications using immersive technologies such as virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality, mobile applications etc.
- Been involved in the research, design and development of user interfaces and user experiences of these applications that are made for the NUS community.
- Learned to leverage the IT infrastructure and architecture in NUS, to understand how the various IT resources are designed and deployed for various implementation.
- Been exposed to working with research principal investigators from various faculties who are in the forefront of using state-of-the-art technologies for their research as well as for teaching and learning.
