Pua Cheng Xuan Frederick
Completed an internship at NUS Information Technology (May to Aug 2024).
Worked on the HPC-on-Demand, a unified workspace for Research Computing framework project described below:
NUS IT’s Research Computing team maintains a central pool of computational resources for running High-Performance Computing, Artificial Intelligence and Machine-Learning (HPC/AI/ML) workloads that is open to all NUS staff and students. The team explored ways to provide remote access to the central pool of resources, given the current trend of remote work and the use of mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones, and selected Open OnDemand, which was implemented last year as a POC. This project aims to move that service into production, to allow all our users to access the HPC/AI/ML central resources.
Over the course of the internship, the intern has gained the following learning outcomes:
- Practical Linux system administration skills
- In-depth knowledge of high-performance computing, artificial intelligence and machine learning
environments
- Web portal development skills
