Introduction to Professional Video Editing

This course focuses on the production phase of post-production, exploring industry contexts and examples to practice working in teams as well as individually to understand principles of storytelling through professional video editing in context with professional production phase execution and the craft of storytelling. Learning Objectives: • Learn the principles of professional video editing • Learn how to edit videos using professional editing software and the principles of workflow. • project exercises and peer review Requirements: Prior knowledge required. This course may be taken individually but is recommended in conjunction with Introduction to Professional Videography: From Prep to Shoot. Access to Adobe Premiere (preferred) or Da Vinci Resolve required; both available with free trial versions; participants need to generate their own footage using any available recording device, such as smartphone or camera if they have one, no requirements for recording device, access to a computer that is suitable for editing is required. This course cannot be taken with theory only.
