NUS Information Technology Internship (Student Internship Programme 2023)

Jerome Chua Jing Jie

Completed an internship at NUS Information Technology (May to Jul 2023). Worked on the Cyber Security Awareness / Cyber Awareness Phishing Mobile Game project described below: Humans are known to be the weakest link in cybersecurity, and NUS, having a large population of staff and students, is naturally of a significant level of risk. To make matters worse, cyber threat actors are evolving themselves with novel methods of attack, resulting in a constant need to play catch-up. Through the research of the latest cyber-threats, especially social engineering threats, the aim is to develop and operationalise various security awareness programmes that will apply to NUS users (both staff and students) and improve the university’s security culture and cyber resilience. Over the course of the internship, the intern has been involved in the fulfillment of the below: • Enhance the NUS Security Awareness resource channels and create contents that can be readily accessed and used by both students and staff. This includes research of topics and converting them into digital formats (such as video, animation and infographics) to be made accessible via NUS channels. • Manage and support security awareness events such as Bug Bounty Program, digital quizzes, adventure games and exhibition events. • Plan and executive security awareness campaigns on various security topics targeting staff and students.
