Medical and Life Science - Immune Action in Infection and Cancer

This is a 21 hours programme delivered over 7 sessions (6 lectures and 1 final presentation) for undergraduate students. Our immune system, including innate and adaptive immunity, is essential for us to survive on the earth. Cellular and humoral mechanisms of the immune system cooperate in fighting against microbial infection and cancer development. This programme will provide knowledge on main principals of the immune system in dealing with pathogens including virus and bacteria and transformed cells. Meanwhile, how microbial pathogens and tumor cells use various strategies to evade host immune system will be discussed. Furthermore, the programme will update on the development of therapeutic strategies in prevention and treatment of infectious disease and cancer.
