Toyama Go Digital! Japan Digitalisation Programme

One of the key learnings from the pandemic is how digitalisation is transforming the world. The nature of how we live, travel, work, learn, providing and receiving services has evolved drastically with the use digital technologies. In Singapore, digital played a crucial role from the response to the pandemic, remote learning and working to developing a robust e-commerce and e-payment space. The shift was at an unprecedented pace. Digitalisation has proven its importance in building the future better and shaping more inclusive and innovative societies, as well as developing more sustainable economies. Digitalisation is however a double-edged sword. While it presents opportunities to catalyse developments, it can create, entrench and exacerbate inequalities and challenges if not applied well. The process of going digital should be built on the basis of inclusion and focused on creating an environment in which the transformational potential of digital can be realised to improve lives and livelihoods. Digital is not something to be separated or siloed. It is about creating products, services, projects and programmes to meet the needs of people and the society. The ’Go Digital! Japan Digitalisation’ programme designed and developed in partnership between the Toyama Prefectural Government and the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy aims to help participants gain an in-depth understanding of digital and explore how technologies can effect positive changes in Toyama Prefecture and bring out its potential in every aspect. This programme will also share with participants Singapore's Smart Nation and e-Government experiences.
