Cyber forensics deals with the recovery and investigation of digital evidence found in relation to cybercrime and other crimes where digital evidence is relevant. This programme provides an introduction to principles, techniques, and tools for performing cyber forensics investigations. Participants will gain a good understanding of the fundamentals of cyber forensics, as well as important techniques for performing evidence extraction and analysis on Windows systems, UNIX/Linux systems, networks and web applications. Additionally, participants will gain practical hands-on exposure to various forensics tools.
This programme aims to provide participants with a foundation in:
Overview of cyber forensics and the role of digital evidence in a crime
How to handle digital evidence in a forensically safe manner
How to perform static acquisition and file analysis
How to perform live/volatile acquisition and Random-Access memory (RAM) analysis
How to extract and analyse evidence from Windows systems, UNIX/Linux systems, networks and web applications
How to utilise forensics tools, including a forensics tool suite with its various software modules
