Law and Public Policy

CHEN ZHULANXIANG

This online course introduces the fields of Law and Public Policy from the perspective of evidence-based decision-making used to support justice and social welfare. The lecturers will use examples from the Singapore context and make linkages with the context of China, through interactive online session with the participants. The program will also expose participants to the emerging challenges of lawmakers and public policy makers given the demographic transition, urbanisation and other mega trends in Asia. At the end of the course, students will write a short paper on a pre-selected key challenge (to be determined) in China and how law and public policy can help address this challenge to ensure a fair and equitable outcome. By the end of the course, students should have enhanced their ability to conduct public policies research and analysis; to cultivate innovative consciousness of legal research; and to propose relevant solutions to some basic legal and public policy problems.
